Jaunpils castle is one of the rare medieval castles, that has preserved its historical look. Jaunpils castle was built in 1301. as Livonia Order fortress. The castle was bult by Livonia Order master Gotfrid fon Roga. More than 350 years the palace was inhabited by fon der Recke strain. Nowadays at the palace, which is surrounded by water from three sides, there is Jaunpils social life.

The picturesque landscape and social life folklore is a background for sideshows meant for tourists. Together with monks, jesters, lords of manor and servants you will have possibility to become a real medieval hero. Everything will be romantic because it will happen at seven century old castle... • Excursion in the Jaunpils Castle An insight into the knights’ castle history, the most important social events, and into the pages of biography of the most prominent heroes of the castle Ls 1.50; school-children, students, senior citizens – Ls 1.00; in a foreign language + Ls 5.00

• Excursion with the castle groundskeeper A trip in the knights’ castle and its surrounding area. Getting acquainted with the hellish conducts and misconducts of the Jaunpils barons, an opportunity to see medieval weapons, learn to walk on stilts. At the end of excursion, to honour the travellers – a round of cannon gunshots. Ls 2.00; for schoolchildren, students, senior citizens – Ls 1.50, in a foreign language Ls +20.00

• Night excursion For those seeking romance in the Witch and Bat Dungeons, an excursion is offered in the castle halls and courtyard in the light of candles and torches. Ls 4.00/person, in a foreign language + Ls 20.00 (for a group consisting of 20 people)

• “Monk’s stories” A performance involving the visitors, turning into a knight with the mischievous monk, the calm but clumsy maid, and the love song singer. Wine tasting, recognising medieval weapons, and a round of cannon gunshot to complete the excursion. Ls 4.00/pers., in a foreign language +Ls 20.00

• “The Little Monks” Medieval school for children from grade 1-6. Each student has an opportunity to become a full-fledged medieval child and receive a monk's cope. The history’s mysteries are solved in the Witches and Bat dungeons, and wine cellars, in the big and tower halls and around the water fortress. The little monks are dealing with medieval weapons, learning the court manners, and merits of castle women. • “Medieval Feast”, “Medieval Feast for Children” Eating without cutleries, only with fingers from clay dishes. The servants dressed in medieval attire will serve interesting ancient dishes. Hands will have to be washed in a lemon-water with rose petals. The candles will give light, the fire-place – warmth, but the medieval music – the atmosphere.

• “Monk’s Feast” A meal with wooden spoons. A prayer together with the monk before the meal, medieval music, candles for light and fire-place for warmth.

• “Baron’s Medieval Feast” Candlelit feast of a true baron with wooden spoons in a medieval tavern.

• “Servant’s Meal” An opportunity to try out the soup from the big castle pot in the castle dungeons...
