Description
Most of the territory is covered by conifer forests and ash trees. Six species of protected flora typical of this type of area – the wood and field pasque flower, the sand sainfoin, the lungwort, the Ruiša pūķugalva and the miniature birch. The Blue Hills are part of the Great Kangari Hills.
It is believed that a Liv castle once stood here. It is a popular recreation area for Ogre residents and visitors. Total area is 312 ha. At its highest point is the castle mound - Zilais kalns - offering an impressive view of the surrounding area.
In the winter, hilly cross country skiing trails are marked; in the summer the trails offer pleasure to hikers, bicyclers and others who want to enjoy the park.
