In 2009 accommodation establishments had 1.4 million guests
In 2009, 21.8 percent less persons visited hotels of Lithuania in comparison with 2008. The number of guests from the EU countries decreased by 20.2, non-EU countries - by 9.7, Lithuanian residents - by 26.3 percent, Statistics Lithuania provisional data.
The majority of guests were from Poland - 125.7 thousand (156.3 thousand in 2008), Germany - 110.2 thousand (130.3 thousand in 2008), Russia - 78.7 thousand (92 thousand in 2008), Latvia - 62.8 thousand (84.7 thousand in 2008), Belarus - 52.2 thousand (45.7 thousand in 2008), Estonia - 30.3 thousand (41.1 thousand in 2008), Finland - 30.2 thousand (40.6 thousand in 2008), the United Kingdom - 25.9 thousand (39.9 thousand in 2008).
In 2009, against 2008, the most considerable decline was observed for the number of guests from Ireland - 40.6 percent), the United Kingdom - 35 percent, Norway - 30.6 percent, Ukraine - 29.5 percent, Estonia -26.1 percent, Latvia - 25.9 percent, Finland - 25.7 percent.
In 2009, the number of guests from Belarus increased by 14.2, Greece - 13.1, Czech Republic - 7.7, Romania - 4.9, Switzerland - 3.4, Luxembourg - 1.6, Iceland - 1.6 percent.
In 2009, Vilnius hotels and guesthouses accommodated 484.7 thousand guests, or by 19.8 percent less than in 2008. The number of foreigners amounted to 397.5 thousand, or by 17.8 percent less than in 2008. In 2009, the Vilnius hotel and guesthouse room occupancy rate amounted to 44 percent (in 2008, 54.5 percent).
