Tallink Group to open its first hotel in Riga
The Tallink hotels chain will open a four-star hotel Tallink Hotel Riga in the Latvian capital.
With the new hotel, the enterprise will create nearly 100 new jobs in Latvia.
Üllar Tali, the CEO of OÜ TLG Hotell that operates the hotel commented that opening a new hotel in Riga is a relatively risky move in the context of the current economic situation, but the enterprise sees great potential in the synergy with Tallink’s Stockholm-Riga ship route.
Tallink Hotel Riga is situated in the centre of Riga, in the immediate vicinity of the railroad station. The hotel has a total of 256 rooms for guests. The management of the hotel will be headed by Hannes Tall who has previously been in charge of Tallink City Hotel in Tallinn.
Tallink’s holding company AS Infortar invested into the new hotel more than 470 million kroons and the construction works were carried out by Merko Ehitus’ Latvian subsidiary SIA Merks. The project was financed by DNB Nord Banka. Tallink Hotels or Tallink Group did not invest into the construction of the hotel.
